The Institute For Justice IJ is a national nonprofit, public interest law firm. Its mission is to “end widespread abuses of government power and secure the constitutional rights that allow all Americans to pursue their dreams.”

It’s a big job. Thankfully, the Institute For Justice is at the ready to take on corrupt government and special interests for the “little guy.” The organization boasts of winning a record of three out of every four cases filed against the government.

The institute supports American entrepreneurs and is known to represent “everyday people, free of charge, when the government violates their most important constitutional rights.”

Currently, the IJ is working to enact a “Food Freedom Act” which would allows states “to greatly expand the opportunities for home-based food entrepreneurs to produce, and for consumers to buy, delicious homemade foods.”

The legislation would allow for the unrestricted sale of “not potentially hazardous foods. Such foods would include baked goods and jams, that are shelf stable and do not require refrigeration with the proper homemade labeling

The IJ legislation would create opportunities for thousands of home-based entrepreneurs throughout the country. Find out more about IJ at their website, IJ.org, where you can download a PDF copy of their Food Freedom Act legislation.
